Mack Gibson
is the Senior Member of the firm and has practiced public accounting
since 1961. Mr. Gibson currently focuses on federal and state taxation,
tax audit representation, management advisory services, and estate and
family planning for individuals and closely held businesses. His
industry specializations include secondary metals, interstate motor
carriers, highway and building construction, plastics manufacturing and
recycling industries. He is a member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants, the Tax Division of AICPA, and the
Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mack,
a native of the area, received his Bachelor of Business Administration
from Baylor University in 1961, and served a term in the United States
Army. His wife, Mary, is also a native of Troy. The
couple settled here to raise their two children and became deeply
immersed in community activities. Mack’s past and present list of
affiliations includes the Troy Rotary Club, Pike County Chamber of
Commerce, Troy Arts and Humanities Council, Jean Lake Arts Festival,
Pike-Troy Cultural Arts Foundation, American Cancer Society’s Relay for
Life, American Heart Association, and Pioneer Museum of Alabama. He
also serves as a Director of Troy Bank & Trust and Henderson
Bancshares, as well as a deacon and member of the finance committee at
the First Baptist Church in Troy. His favorite pastimes include pleasure travel and reading.

Jerry W. Carden, CPA, CFP®, CSA

Jerry
is a Member and serves as the Technology Director and as Senior
Director of the firm’s Community Bank Services Group. He brings to the
table his public accounting expertise and varied business experience
including auditing, tax accounting and management consulting. His specialties are in the areas of not-for-profit organizations, banks, estate planning, and retirement planning. Jerry is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner®. He has also received certification as a Certified Financial Services Auditor by the
Institute of
Internal Auditors. He
is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants,
the Personal Financial Planning Division of AICPA, the
Institute of
Internal Auditors, the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Financial Planning Association.

Originally from
Prattville, Jerry moved to
Troy in 1972 to attend
Troy
State
University, where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He and his wife settled in
Troy to raise their two children. In 1980, Jerry and
Mack Gibson merged their practices to form the CPA firm of Gibson & Carden. Since
then, Jerry has helped many in the community. In 1993, he began to
serve as an Elder with the First Presbyterian Church of Troy and is
Treasurer for the Pioneer Museum of Alabama. Jerry is a member of the
Exchange Club and Toastmasters International and has also taught
accounting at the University. In 1995, Jerry was honored by his Alma
Mater by being inducted into the TSU Accounting Hall of Honor. In his leisure time Jerry likes to take his boat out and do a little fishing.

Allen E. Phillips, CPA

Allen Phillips is a Member of the firm with over 25 years of successful small business experience. Working
out of the Luverne office, his areas of concentration include business
consulting and problem solving, government, and construction with
emphasis on auditing, accounting, tax cost allocation, contract
performance reviews, compliance measurement, program evaluation, and
computer services. He is a member of the Alabama
Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants, and is certified as a regional advisor
for an international accounting software provider. He
completed the AICPA’s Governmental Accounting and Auditing Certificate
of Educational Achievement Program, and has served as a college
Instructor of Accounting.

A native of south Alabama, Allen came to Troy to earn his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Troy State University. After graduation he married and took a job with the firm, and has remained with them since. Other
related background includes Director of Development for a non-profit
educational commission, the Luverne Rotary Club, and the Troy State
University Accounting Advisory Council. In
addition to various community activities, Allen has also served on the
Board of Directors for Crenshaw Christian Academy, and is a member of
the South Luverne Baptist Church. His free time is spent with this wife and three children.

Cathryn M. Perdue, CPA

Cathy Perdue joined the firm in 1995 when she merged
her practice with that of Gibson & Carden. As a Member, Mrs.
Perdue is based in our Luverne office. From the beginning of her
public accounting career in 1980, Cathy has garnered expertise in
governmental auditing, tax planning, research, IRS audit representation
and tax return preparation. Cathy also directs the firm’s ElderCare
Services. She is a member of both the Alabama Society of Certified
Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants.
“We have made a significant investment in
Luverne because we believe that Gibson & Carden is needed here.
The city and county are poised to grow steadily over the next 10 years
we want to make sure that we are ready to help with that growth.”
Cathy completed her undergraduate studies at Auburn
University and studied accounting at the University of Alabama at
Birmingham. She met and married a man from Luverne, and the couple
eventually settled in the area to raise their two children. An active
member of the community, Cathy served as past President of the Luverne
Area Chamber of Commerce and the Luverne Kiwanis Club. She also
volunteered as treasurer of the Crenshaw County Rodeo, Luverne
Methodist Church, and Luverne High Band Boosters, as well as various
positions for the Crenshaw County Junior Miss Committee. In her free
time, Cathy enjoys photography, making family albums, and attending
Auburn football games.

Darren P. Hipps, CPA

Darren
Hipps joined Gibson & Carden in 1990. As a Member, he serves as the
Director of the Accounting and Assurance Department, specializing in
attestation services related to financial reporting, internal systems,
profitability planning, human resource planning, and management
consulting. He is a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Alabama Society of
Certified Public Accountants. He specializes in
the areas of construction, interstate trucking, pension plans,
government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations.

Originally from
Florida, Darren relocated to attend
Troy
State
University and decided to make
Troy his home. A
husband and father of five, he currently serves as President of the
Troy Civitan Club, dedicated to raising funds for organizations like
the March of Dimes, and the
Civitan
International
Research
Hospital in
Birmingham for children with developmental disabilities. In his spare time he likes to do a little hunting, fishing, and enjoys a good game of golf.

Ross Jinright, CPA

Ross Jinright joined the firm
twelve years ago and is a Member and the Director of Tax Services for
the firm. As Director, he is responsible for all client tax matters,
including business, income, estate and gift taxes. His focus is on tax
mitigation and reduction through preemptive planning, adept use of tax
law, and innovative tax strategies for businesses, individuals, estates
and trust. A graduate of Troy State University, his professional
memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants,
for whom he has served as Council Representative for the Southeast
Chapter of ASCPA.

accomplish a goal…that’s definitely the best part of the job for me.”
Ross is an
active life-long member of the Troy community. He attends First
Baptist Church of Troy and has served as past President of the South
Central Society of CPA’s and the Troy Exchange Club, a civic club whose
main focus is in preventing child abuse. As a loving husband and
father of three (including a set of twins), Ross looks forward to
spending time with his family. He enjoys going to the beach with them
on the weekends or just playing with the kids outdoors. He also likes
to hunt and watch sports games.

Beth A. Stubblefield, CPA, CRP

Beth Stubblefield is a Member in the firm and serves
as the Director of the firm’s Community Bank Services Group, which
specializes in providing internal auditing and tax consulting services
to community banks throughout the Southeastern states. Her
professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants, the Alabama Society of Certified Public
Accountants, and the Independent Community Bankers Association of
Alabama. She has also been awarded the professional designation
Certified Risk ProfessionalSM, which is conferred by the BAI Center for
Certifications.

A graduate of Troy State University, Beth met and
married a fellow TSU graduate soon after their college days ended. The
young mother later went back to school to further qualify for CPA
certification. Mrs. Stubblefield is a member of the First Baptist
Church of Troy and was a founding member and past Treasurer of the
Parent-Teacher Organization for Pike Liberal Arts School. Other civic
and community involvements include being a charter member of the Pike
County Chapter of the Troy State Alumni Association, serving as past
Secretary of the Pike County Republican Party, past President of the
Troy Alpha Delta Pi Alumni Association, and a Chapter Advisor to the
Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at TSU.
